1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Browser local storage is a similar mechanism that allows a web application to store data directly in your browser on your device. ElevateU uses both cookies and local storage to make the Service work and to remember your preferences and data.

2. How We Use Cookies and Local Storage

• Strictly necessary: used for essential functions such as keeping you signed in and maintaining your session and the security of the Service. The Service cannot function properly without these.
• Functional: used to remember your settings and preferences (such as your theme) and to store your application state and data in browser local storage.
• Analytics: where used, these help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. We keep any analytics limited and privacy-respecting.
• Marketing (consent-based): if you accept, we load the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our marketing and understand visitor interactions. These are not set unless you consent via our cookie banner, and you can decline or withdraw consent at any time.

3. Local Storage of Your Data

ElevateUis designed to store most of your application data — such as assessment answers, academics and goals — in your browser's local storage on your own device, rather than in third-party tracking cookies. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies unless you consent — the only such cookie is the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which loads only after you accept it in our cookie banner (see section 5). Because your application data lives in your browser, clearing your local storage may remove it.

4. Managing and Clearing Cookies and Local Storage

You can control and delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies and clear site data and local storage. Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent you from signing in or using parts of the Service.

5. Third-Party Cookies

Some features rely on third-party providers (such as Cloudflare for infrastructure, Google for AI processing, and our payment partner). These providers may set their own cookies when you interact with their services, governed by their own policies.

With your consent, we also load the Meta (Facebook) Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.), which may set cookies and collect usage events to help us measure and improve our marketing. This loads only after you acceptin our cookie banner; you can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your site data. Meta's processing is governed by Meta's own data policy.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
